There was heavy security presence at the Berger to Ogun River section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway this morning as operatives of Julius Berger blocked the outward Lagos stretch of the road for rehabilitation works.
Speaking with newsmen, the Area Commander Ogudu Police Command of Lagos State, ACP Miller Dantawaye stated that the police have mobilized en masse to ensure maintenance of law and order during the rehabilitation works.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has said that the partial closure which commenced today will last until the thirty-first of October.
In a travel advisory it issued, the agency explained that movement from Kara Bridge inward Berger would be sealed off while traffic would be diverted into the other part of the road going out of Lagos.
LASTMA urged motorists plying the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to remain orderly while the rehabilitation of the road lasts. Speaking to newsmen at the point of diversion today, Area Commander of LASTMA, Ogudu, Mr. Jubril Oshodi assured the motoring public of steady flow of traffic, although at a slow pace due to the ongoing rehabilitation works.
He however warned motorists against taking one way, saying this could have negative impact on other innocent road users along the road.
