One person got burnt yesterday morning, when a car under repair at a mechanic workshop at Tanke-Ajanaku area, Ilorin, caught fire. The incident happened at about 11:27 a.m.
The mechanic, a young man in his mid-thirties was working on the Audi car when suddenly fire started from underneath the car. All efforts to put off the fire initially proved abortive as the intensity of the fire grew, catching the mechanic in the process.
There was panic around the place with commuters moving their cars farther while onlookers raised alarm. The fire was however quenched with the aid of fire extinguishers.
Those who came to the rescue quickly placed a container under the car to prevent the leaking fuel from spilling and causing another inferno, while the injured mechanic was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
