Nigeria army establishes new division in Borno

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has announced the establishment of the Nigerian Army eight Division located in the northern part of Borno State.
Buratai disclosed this while delivering a lecture at the National Defence College, Abuja. He said the establishment of the new division was part of a strategic plan to secure the country’s territorial borders from all sorts of criminal elements.
The chief of army staff also said plans are underway to establish another division to be known as the Nigerian Army six Division with headquarters in the South-South region of the country.
He said the Army planned to increase its personnel strength from its present one hundred thousand strength-force to slightly above two hundred thousand in the next eight years. According to him, twelve thousand personnel would be recruited in 2016 alone to fill the vacancies created as a result of the new establishments in the army.
