A former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, has alleged that the Speaker Yakubu Dogara and three other principal officers perpetrated fraud in the 2016 budget.
Jibrin, while opening up on why Dogara sacked him, claimed that he was being victimized by the Speaker because he objected to a request Dogara made that he should allocate projects worth forty billion naira to him in the 2016 budget.
In a statement on Thursday, Jibrin demanded the immediate resignation of Dogara, his deputy, Yussuf Suleimon Lasun, Chief Whip, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, and Minority Leader, Leo Ogor, who he alleged would have shared the project.
However in a reaction, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, has described Jibrin’s allegations as an afterthought just to express his anger over his sacking.
Namdas noted that Jibrin was removed because the leadership reserved the prerogative of appointing and removing committee chairmen whenever they were seen to no longer be able to perform their duties.
