Djokovic Out Of US Open After Hitting Line Judge

Tennis champion who remains the favourite in the men’s singles title at the US Open, Novak Djokovic, has been disqualified from the competition after he accidentally hit a line judge in the neck with his ball.
Djokovic who realized immediately he hit the line judge and approached her had just lost a point in the opening set against Pablo Carreno Busta. The score of the first set was 6-5.
The rule of the game states that players who hit another person on the court can be automatically disqualified from the competition by way of a loss. Therefore, Carreno Busta will advance to the the quarterfinals
As a result of Djokovic’s loss, there will be a new Grand Slam men’s singles champion for the first time in six years.
In a bid to stay in the competition, he appealed to the officials that he could take a game penalty or set penalty rather than going out of the tournament.
To support his plea, Djokovic also noted that the line judge was able to get up and didn’t need to be taken to the hospital but official, Andreas Egli, stood his ground on the decision.
The United States Tennis Association said in a statement that Djokovic will lose all ranking points and be fined the prize money he won for reaching this current round.
