The Federal Government has announced plans to shut indefinitely the collapsing Ijora-Apapa Bridge to traffic for palliative work to be carried out from today, saying the measure became necessary in order to save lives and property.
Addressing a stakeholder’s meeting in Lagos on Sunday, the Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said that Ijora/Marina-bound vehicles will be diverted to other routes to reduce inconveniences. He expressed dismay at the long years of neglect that resulted to the dilapidation of the bridge.
