About Royal FM 95.1MHz, Ilorin
Royal FM 95.1MHz is the first private FM Radio Station in Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria. We commenced commercial transmission upon receipt of the Radio Broadcast licence by the National Broadcast Commission (NBC) on December 12, 2011. We have transformed the face of broadcasting, thus giving credence to our mantra: ‘we set the pace’. We have have developed valuable experience in radio broadcasting and production expertise.
Our programming is transmitted to both online listeners (www.royalfm.net) and live audiences of about 6 million people – covering Ilorin and over eighty surrounding communities in other states; these includes Kwara, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Niger, Edo, Ondo and Kogi States.
Hours of Broadcast
We broadcast round the clock – 24 hours a day – under the following schedules:
- Between 05:00 am and 12:00pm – Morning drive
- Between 12:00 pm and 06:00pm PM cruise
- Between 06:00 pm and 10:00pm Night train
- Between 10:00 pm and 5:00am Mid- night lounge
We keep our content positive, creative, truthful and relevant, keeping in sight the relevance and significance of the story.
We remain objective and independent ensuring that our audience has access to impartial information. We are not driven by the interests of individuals, agendas of business entities, ethnic, pressure groups, public and individual agitators, political entities, religious groups or governments.

Since inception, our fan base has grown tremendously our listeners are reached and engaged through the diverse social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. One high activity channel is the internet radio www.royalfm.net , which has ensured a wider reach for our audience within and outside Nigeria. They tune in by downloading our mobile apps on their handheld devices via App Store.
Royal FM’s style of programming is a dynamic one, it is spun in a way to accommodate both the young and old. We have adopted a family friendly house style that appeals to the 13 – 65 age groups. These include:

To commemorate our first anniversary a mega Raffle draw competition was held in Ilorin where a lucky winner went away with a brand new Kia Picanto Car.
In December 2013, we brought together children from all walks of life located within our coverage area and hosted them for three days at our Father Christmas Funfair. It has since become an annual event children look forward to each year. To celebrate our second anniversary we also hosted churches of different denominations to a Carol service at the Savannah resort and events centre Ilorin. This has also become an annual event that brings the Christian community together to celebrate the yuletide season. We have also sponsored traditional festivals in Borgu Kingdom, New Bussa, and Niger State. Contributing our quota towards advocating for a healthier lifestyle, we have held 4 editions of a bicycle fitness exercise; Ride for Life in Ilorin and Lagos.

Awards and Recognition
In 2013, Royal FM 95.1 won the award for the best indigenous radio station in the South- West zone (in the first timer category) by the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit awards (NBMA). In 2014, we got 13 nominations, out of the 23 categories for our achievements in the broadcasting arena. Some of our On –Air Personalities won awards the best indigenous Presenter Day time and Night time, Best Yoruba presenter Male/ Female.
In the just concluded 2015 General elections, amongst a host of media outlets, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) recognized and commended the station for its coverage of the elections.
Through the years, we have had the pleasure of hosting quite a number of eminent persons at our studios, from elder statesmen to celebrities in the entertainment sector, as well the prominent figures in the political arena.
