The residents of Ilupeju Community, along Madi road, Ilorin, have called on the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to include their community on the list of the recently approved beneficiaries of transformer.
The residents of Ilupeju Community made this call in a press statement signed by the Community Chairman, Comrade Jamiu Oyebisi and Secretary, MallamĀ Shaykh Ahmad and sent to newsmen yesterday after the community’s weekly meeting.
The Chairman said the community has never been connected to the national grid and has written several letters to the Ministry of Energy on the issue.
Comrade Oyebisi, who stated that the community is populated by over 99 percent of various tribes of Kwara extraction, urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to show fatherly care by approving the request made on provision of transformer and its installation.
Also speaking, the secretary of the community, Mallam Shaykh Ahmad said the community has expended millions of naira in purchasing electrical materials but the lean resources of the members necessitated the call for intervention.
Royal Times reports that the secretary, who prayed for the success of the Governor, said the darkness retards the growth of the community and called on the Governor to give them their share of dividends of democracy.
