The World meteorological organization has unveiled an alarming multi-agency report on climate.
A new multi-agency report coordinated by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), revealed on Tuesday that greenhouse gas concentrations were rising to record highs and called for urgent action to mitigate emissions so as to adapt to the changing climate.
United Nations (U.N) Secretary-General Antonio GUTERRES in his remarks before the 2022 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty noted that the number of weather, climate and water related disasters has increased by a factor of five over the past 50 years.
Meanwhile, the U.N Chief’s call echoes a call by representatives of 24 African countries who met on the 5th of September to ask for help in meeting their financial commitments to help the continent adapt to climate change.
“There is nothing metro about the news scale of these disasters.” It stated.
