Traders in Shasha Market, Oke-Baale, Osogbo counted their losses over the weekend after a heavy downpour submerged their stalls leading to loss of their goods and wares.
It was gathered that although no casualty was recorded yet from the heavy rainfall, which lasted for more than two hours, it forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes in the area.
Speaking to newsmen, Rufai Bello, one of the affected traders, said he rushed to the area to save some of his goods before the place was flooded.
Another affected trader, Wakeel Alakuko said he and other traders were caught unawares and they were only able to take a few items away from the shop before the flood took over.
However, other traders, who spoke with journalists, called on the state government to do something about the flood which had become a yearly occurrence, noting that the government was aware but nothing had been done even after several appeals.
