Subsidy: Nigeria Labour Congress Shuns Fg Meeting, Electricity Workers Back Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Sunday shunned a meeting called by the Federal Government to discuss the subsidy removal and the attendant hike in fuel pump prices across the country.
After the meeting with the government officials at the state House Correspondent, Dele Alake, the spokesperson to the president, said the government will review increment of the minimum wage and other demands of the labour leaders.
In its reaction, the president of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo, said the union insisted on the reversal of petrol prices while discussions continue and demanded the increment in minimum wage.
Giving reasons for boycotting the meeting, the president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero said the labour congress has no reason to attend the meeting, insisting that the labour congress as a united group will embark on the planned industrial action.
Reacting to the intended industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress, the electricity workers vowed to join the strike and plunge the nation into a blackout in protest against the removal of fuel subsidy by the Bola Tinubu administration.
