Residents and road users in Ilorin were on Tuesday frustrated and their reasons were not far-fetched.They fingered Youths in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state who were said to have staged what they called a peaceful rally and in the process caused heavy gridlock within the metropolis.
Some of the residents including Adebayo Alao, Bunmi Adefila noted that the uncoordinated rally resulted into long traffic queues across the metropolis with frustrated motorists, pedestrians and commercial motorcyclists lamenting bitterly about the negative impact on businesses and man-hours.
Royal Times gathered that Youths in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state staged the rally, tagged, “O su wa” (we are tired) against alleged unfulfilled promises of better governance of ‘O to ge’ crusaders in the 2019 general elections in the state.
It was also gathered that the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, described the event as a spontaneous reaction to what the youths have been through in the hands of the ruling party at the state and national levels.
However , other residents who lamented over the gridlock caused by the rally noted that rather than cause an untold hardship to road users in the name of rally , youth should be enlightened on the importance of a vote that counts at the ballots.
Other political commentators who spoke on the condition of anonymity wondered why the youths had to wait till the arrival of the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, before they could stage the so called rally.
