President Muhammadu Buhari has inagurated 10 additional locomotives and two coaches in Rigasa Train Station, Kaduna.

The president who was happy at progress of the project while giving his speech stated that In response to the increased demand for this service the federal government will flag off the other leg of the project.
he also promise that the Lagos to Ibadan segment of the Lagos to Kano double track standard gauge rail line project is targeted to be completed by the end of the year.
he explained further that the Itakpe to Warri standard gauge central line is expected to be commissioned by July this year and the extension from Itakpe to Abuja is being pursued vigorously.
Mr. president also stated that the federal government is set to partner with private sector participation in rail development as negotiation for concession of the narrow gauge railways with a consortium led by General Electric is in progress.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi had earlier said that the provision of additional coaches and locomotives is aimed at increasing rail traffic along the Abuja-Kaduna route and also to eliminate ticket racketeering by persons taking advantage of the shortage of coaches to extort innocent passengers.
