PDP Officially Flags Off Presidential Campaign in Akwa Ibom, 5 Sitting Governors Missing

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has flagged off its presidential campaign
in Uyo with five state governors of the party missing from the event.
The party’s official flag-off which is coming barely four months before the
February 25th presidential election is taking place at the Nest of Champions
Stadium in Uyo.

Dignitaries in the South-South State include the party’s presidential candidate
and former Vice President, Akitu Abubakar, his running mate and Delta State
Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.
Others include Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed and his Adamawa
counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri, former lawmaker representing Kogi West, Dino
Melaye among other top party officials.

But Governors; Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie
Ikpeazu of Abia, Seyi Makinde of Oyo and Ifeanyi Ugwunayi of Enugu States
are reportedly absent.

It could be recalled that the five state governors recently pulled out of the
party’s presidential campaign team after the party failed to meet their
demand for the removal of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
