As part of measures to provide easy access to basic healthcare to rural dwellers, the National Youth Service Corps Health Initiative For Rural Dwellers (HIRD) has flagged off her outreach in Afon, ASA local government area of Kwara State.
While flagging off the ceremony, the State Coordinator, NYSC Kwara state, Francisca Olaleye, said the choice of Afon was borne out of the need to give back to the community that has been of tremendous support to the scheme over the years. She urged residents of Afon community to take full advantage of the opportunity and access free healthcare services that the NYSC brought to their doorsteps.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Asa LGA, Alh. Abdul Ganiyu Atebise, applauded the NYSC scheme for medical outreach even as he pledged the support of his administration for all NYSC programmes in the Area Council .
Other dignitaries present at the occasion includes Dawodu of Afon community, Alh. Anofi Kolapo who also commended the NYSC for the timely healthcare programme which has assisted his people access free healthcare services.
Highlights of the event include the inspection of the Medical Stand by dignitaries, led by the Dawodu of Afon community.
The Health Initiative For Rural Dwellers (HIRD) is a medical outreach of the NYSC with operations since 2014 aimed at bringing healthcare services to rural communities by partnering with Government agencies, Non-Government Agencies and other philanthropic organizations.
The outreach was in collaboration with the Kwara State Ministry of Health, Peace Pharmacy, and the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, Ilorin .
