The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured Nigerians that there is no plan to increase fuel price. NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru gave the assurance in an interview with State House correspondents today after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reacting to a media report that forex scarcity might necessitate another pump price hike, Baru said he had not been directed to increase it from one hundred and forty-five naira per litre. He said there is no basis for increasing fuel price, emphasizing that marketers’ request for fuel importation had been met.
He said the NNPC’s supply is robust and that the corporation is meeting demands with one-point-four billion litres available.
