The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Tuesday, rebuked the former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Doyin Okupe, over a statement credited to him that governors should sack civil servants to resolve the irregular salaries payment crisis, describing the call as absurd.

The former presidential spokesperson said a situation where ten per cent of the population was consuming ninety per cent of the wealth of the state was an obvious socio-economic absurdity and incongruity. But in a swift response, factional NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said since Okupe believed in the equitable distribution of the nation’s wealth, he should conduct a forensic audit of state’s pay to civil servant, contractors and politicians as well as the cost of running government houses.
