National Assembly to tackle budget deficit with Finance Act amendment

Following reports of over eleven trillion naira deficit in the proposed 2023 Budget, the National Assembly might tackle the deficit in the budget with the required amendment of relevant provisions of the Finance Act.
Speaking with Journalists over the weekend in Abuja, the Chairman, Senate Services Committee, Senator Sani Musa of the All Progressives Congress, APC, explained that the amendment of the Finance Act by the National Assembly will dwell on areas of making the various revenue-generating agencies to double or triple targets earlier given to them towards reducing the size of proposed budget deficit.
Senator Musa further explained that the budget of this country, have been in deficit and the only way to correct it is by making amending a lot of things in the Finance Act to enable the country generate more revenues from other sources rather than depending on oil alone and by extension, reduce the size of proposed budget deficit.
