The president of the Kwara state chapter of National Association of Proprietors of private schools NAPPS, Doctor Temitope Afolabi today congratulated and saluted the courage of teachers in their quest and resolution to remain undeterred even in the face of the crisis facing the nation.

This is coming as Kwara teachers joined the whole world in celebrating the 2022 World Teachers’ Day 2022. He urged teachers to continue giving their best for national development.

According to one of the teachers, “This is a day we celebrate with our teachers. Without teachers there is no nation, because teachers are nation builders and we want to sincerely appreciate our teachers across the sixteen local governments in Kwara State today, that their efforts are well recognized and appreciated. We pray that God will continue to bless our teachers in Jesus name. we want our teachers to put in more efforts for Nigeria to attain the level and status we want.”

However, an appeal has gone to Kwara State government to carry out complete overhaul of all colleges of education in order to ensure production of qualified NCE holders just as it is done for Grade Two Teacher Certificate.

Some school heads who spoke with our correspondent Olarotimi Oshin lamented that schools are now faced with the challenge of having qualified teachers as many NCE and BSc holders are not employable.

The headmistress of Great minds Nursery and Primary Schools, Miss Tewogbade olajumoke and the proprietress of Adenike International Schools, Adewole, called on government, parents, school owners to organize stakeholders meeting towards resolving high volume of unqualified teachers in Nigeria.

” There is a problem in the Education sector, as we speak right now because both in public schools and private schools, teachers are no longer available. After interviewing about twenty teachers, hardly will you get a teacher that is competent both in oral and written the problem now is the institution from the primary to secondary to the higher institution level”

Speaking at an event organized by the state governor in commemorating this year’s world teachers’ day, Nigeria Union of Teachers’ chairman, comrade Bashiru Oyewo, encouraged the governor to meet the pending demands of the teachers in the state in order to distinguish the commitment of his administration to prioritize education from the past administration.
