Lassa fever: Senate votes against free distribution of rat poison

The Senate on Tuesday voted against a motion seeking free distribution of rat poison by the Federal Government to the citizenry as a way of curtailing the spread of Lassa fever in the country.Moving a motion on the spread of Lassa fever Senator Olanrewaju Tejuoso suggested the free distribution of the rat poison, saying the level of poverty in the country would not allow the citizenry to purchase the substance. But when a voice vote was taken by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the lawmakers voted against it.
