Labour Party Demands Release Of Abducted Ebonyi Senatorial Candidate

The Labour Party has demanded the immediate release of its Senatorial Candidate in Ebonyi South, Honourable Linus Okorie, who was reportedly abducted on his way home on Sunday night.
According to the party, Okorie was allegedly abducted by the personnel of the South East Vigilante outfit, Ebubeagu.
In a statement released today in Abuja, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Julious Abure said some political actors in some South Eastern states particularly, Ebonyi and Enugu have vowed that Labour Party and its candidates will not be allowed to campaign freely in the zone.
He added that the claim is evident with incessant attacks on members, supporters, and candidates of the Labour Party.
The party chairman expressed fears that the frequent attack and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians, particularly the political class could have a major consequences in the coming general election.
Abure, however, described the situation as unfortunate and a threat to democracy.
