Valuable properties were at early hours of yesterday lost in the fire incident which razed the MRS Filling Station, Opposite General Post Office, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The incident which started at about eight o’clock in the morning took the intervention of the officials of the State Fire Service who immediately swung into action before the fire could spread to other places.
Our Correspondent, Olarotimi Oshin, reports that no live was lost in the incident.
Some eyewitnesses, Imaila Akeem and Michael Akolade who spoke with our correspondent lamented the construction of multiple filling stations in a specific location. They explained that about three filling stations are located around post office, saying that it would have been a disaster if the fire outbreak was not quickly tackled by fire fighters.
Efforts to speak with officials of the filling station proved abortive as some of them were battling with the psychological effect of the incident.
It would be recalled the Kwara state House of Assembly has frowned against indiscriminate construction of filling stations in residential areas in Ilorin, the state capital which according to the House poses grave danger to lives and properties.
