The Kwara state branch of red cross has called on the Kwara state Governor Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq to assist the NGO in a bid to respond to emergency as expected.
Speaking at the press briefing held at the red cross office in Ilorin, the state chairman of the red cross barrister, Olayiwola Balogun said the red cross is major in responding to natural hazards, climate crises, conflicts, health emergencies, displacement, or migration.
While noting that the red cross is facing a serious financial crisis, the state chairman added that the fund received from donors internally and internationally is little when compared with the volume of money needed for emergency situations.
In her message, the representative of the Kwara state command of Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS)”. CSC Ogunbiyi Gabriel commended the red cross for remembering the correctional centres during their yearly celebration.
As reported by our correspondent Olarotimi Oshin, the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is meant to celebrate the legacy of Henry Dunant whose vision led to the creation of the worldwide Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
