Kwara NUJ Holds Maiden Gubernatorial Debate on Thursday

The maiden gubernatorial debate of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is holding on Thursday in Ilorin, the state capital.
Tagged “Conversation 2023”, the debate will hold at NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin at 10am with Governorship Candidates of political parties for the forthcoming general elections in the state in attendance.
In a joint statement issued in Ilorin, the Chairman and Secretary of the NUJ Debate Planning Committee, Binta Abubakar-Mora and Mahmood Olayinka Alaya respectively said the event would afford the gubernatorial candidates opportunity to communicate their vision to the electorate in an open conversational pattern.
statement said the union’s motive is to stir up candidate-voters’ conversation for the electorate to make informed choices when voting.
It added that the dynamics of governance including emerging challenges have made it imperative for gubernatorial candidates of political parties in the next year’s polls to faithfully engage the electorate on practicable solutions.
The statement noted that the debate is part of the functions of the media of ascertaining the preparedness of the candidates and also get the prospective voters acquainted to aid their choice of leaders at all levels. It urged members of the union across chapels to attend the event promptly.
