The Kwara state Government has assured Muslims and other residents of the state of safety before, during and after the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. A statement issued today by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold, says adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free Eid prayer and the Sallah celebrations.
He said as part of the arrangements, security agencies have been fully mobilized to ensure peace and order at all prayer grounds in the state. The SSG said that details and timing of the Eid prayer would be released by the Committee set up by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.
He also urged the public to ignore recent negative pronouncements regarding the forthcoming Eid prayer which he said, tended to portray certain individuals and communities as perpetrators of disorder. According to the SSG, government has no information linking anyone with plans to disrupt the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
Gold, therefore, admonished the people to continue to utilize legitimate channels for airing their grievances as guaranteed by the constitution and other relevant laws of the country. He said the state government would continue to welcome constructive criticisms and feedback from the people.
