Journalists charged on professionalism, as Kwara TV marks 2022 press week

In commemoration of the 2022 Press Week, the Nigeria Union of Journalists has been urged to approach the 2023 General Election with a different approach that can be more critical to the society.
Speaking during the 2022 Press Week organized by the Kwara TV Chapel of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, , the Deputy Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Adetiba Olarenwaju Olalekan urged Journalists to approach the coming elections with a new type of journalism , noting that the new approach is important due to the change in the landscape of politics and media.
Honourable Adetiba who defined Development Journalism as a methodological means of writing news stories in respect to national development.
However, the Guest Speaker of the event who is also the Acting General, Director of University Relations in the Kwara State University, Malate, Dr. Saheedat Bola Aliyu, spoke about Media Fairness ahead of the general election
According to her , the role of media is fundamental to the process of election. She noted that fairness in journalism is not achievable due to the perception of the recipient of the news stories.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on strategy, Alhaji Saadu Salaudeen in his opinion said fairness in journalism is achievable.
