Islamic Cleric Admonishes Parents On Upbringing Of Female Children

A Professor of Islamic Studies, Badmas Lanre Yusuf, has admonished parents to avoid preferential treatment in the upbringing of their children.
Professor Yusuf, a former Dean of Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, said it was disappointing that some parents discriminate against their female children, thereby killing their innate ability.
The Don stated this today in his sermon at a Special Juma’ah service to commemorate the retirement of a Director in the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Hajia Biliqees Modupe Oladimeji, held at Hilal Crescent Mosque, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.
Professor Yusuf said parents have a responsibility to invest in the education of their female children as they do for their male counterparts, pointing out that Islam recognizes the importance of women in the society.
