Ilorin Emir: Governor AbdulRahman, Engineer Adebayo, Kwara CAN, Others Celebrates 27th Coronation Anniversary

Kwara State Governor Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, Group Executive Officer of the Royal Media Group Engineer Gbenga Adebayo, the Christian community through the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State Chapter Rt. Rev. Sunday Timothy Adewole joined well meaning Nigerians to mark the 27th coronation anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq congratulated the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on the 27th anniversary of his ascension to the throne of Sheikh Alimi and prayed to Almighty Allah to ease the affairs of His Royal Highness and grant him good health and honour always.

On his part, the founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Media Group, Engineer Gbenga Adebayo joined indigenes, residents and well-meaning Nigerians to celebrate the Emir and prayed that the Almighty continues to enrich him with strength, wisdom, and good health to lead the Emirate, Kwara State Traditional Council and humanity aright.

Engr. Adebayo said “I heartily rejoice with the Ilorin Emirate, family and friends of His Royal Highness Mai Martaba Ilorin on this landmark feat. His reign as the 11th Emir no doubt has attracted growth, development and tranquility to the Emirate and the state in general. The main reason we have more businesses springing-up everyday in the state of Harmony”

Also, Chairman, Kwara State CAN, Rt. Rev. Sunday Adewole conveyed his congratulatory message on Friday noting that the state is grateful to God for the life of the revered monarch who has reigned for twenty seven years added that the Emir’s tenure has witnessed tremendous development and peaceful atmosphere.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN also rejoiced with the Emir of Ilorin in a statement signed on his behalf by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, in which the Vice Chancellor described the reign of the Emir as peaceful, eventful and prosperous.

On their part, the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of Kwara State University warmly expressed their joy with the Emir of Ilorin in a statement signed by the Vice Chancellor of KWASU, Professor Muhammad Akanbi SAN in which he prayed that Allah grant the revered monarch many more years in sound health so he can continue to guide the city on the path of harmony and morality.

Meanwhile, a Professor of History at the University of Ilorin, Abdulganiyu Jawondo has advocated constitutional roles for traditional institutions to enable them perform their functions optimally.

Professor Jawondo dropped the hint at a Colloquium for the 27th Coronation Anniversary of the Emir of Ilorin, and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari organized by Kwara Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with Ilorin Emirate Council, held at Kwara State Banquet Hall, Ilorin

He noted that lack of constitutional duty for traditional rulers is hampering performance and called on Ilorin indigenes to be united to move the community to greater heights

Chairman of the occasion and Zana of Ilorin, Engineer Lanre Shagaya represented by the Former Director-General, Kwara Bureau of Land, Alhaji Salman Ibrahim prayed to Allah for the Emir to celebrate more years in peace on the throne.

In his remarks, Kwara State Council of NUJ, Comrade Abdul-Lateef Ahmed observed that Ilorin has witnessed numerous developments in the past 27 years that the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs ascended the throne of his forebears.
