Gunmen kill two police officers, cart away rifles in Delta

Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed two police officers attached to Ofuoma Police Division, in Ughelli North Local Council of the state, and carted away their rifles.
Reports gathered that the hoodlums exchanged gun duels with the police officers who were conducting a stop and search at Okoruwe street by Winners junction, Ekredjebor- community on Friday night.
A police source gave the name of one of the deceased officers as one Ujeyah Matthew, while one Sergeant Ijebu, who was injured, was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said he was not aware of the incident, but a senior police officer, who did not want his name mentioned, confirmed that two police officers were shot dead near Sokaje hotel, Ughelli, while one Sergeant Ijebu was receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
