Gunmen abduct Kwara residents in midnight raid

Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday raided Oluwalose community, Okolowo area, a suburb of Ilorin, Kwara State, abducting no fewer than two residents. A source claimed that 15 people, including the community chairman, Mr Buhari Tunde, were kidnapped.

According to the source, the gunmen left the community around 2am after policemen from the Operation Harmony Tactical Team responded to a distress call to repel the invasion of the armed men.

It was further learnt that the gunmen invaded the community on motorcycles.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, while confirming the attack said two residents were kidnapped before arrival of the policemen to the community.

He added that the security operative is making efforts to rescue the two members of the community, noting that policemen are combing the surrounding bushes to rescue them, but are yet to record success as at the time of writing this report.
