The Flamingoes lost their opening FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup game by 2 goals to 1 to Germany on Friday evening.
The Flamingos had taken the lead thanks to a brilliant freekick by Miracle Usani in the 30th minute but Germany equalised after the break as Svea Stodlt finished a nicely worked move from a cornerkick.
Germany got the winning goal in the 61st minute as Mara Alber seized upon a mistake in Nigeria’s defence.
The Flamingos will next tackle New Zealand who also lost their opening game to Chile 3-1. The game will be played on Friday by 12pm Nigerian time.
