Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has dismissed allegations that she illegally authorized the diversion of recently recovered Abacha loot during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
The former minister has been under attack, mainly from Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who said she should be joined in the ongoing probe of the arms procurement scandal for allowing expenditure without authorization.
Dr Okonjo-Iweala in a statement by her media adviser, Paul Nwabuikwu however described the allegation as part of campaign of falsehood to tarnish her image.
The former Minister admitted that she approved the transfer of three hundred and twenty-two million dollars to former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki to prosecute the fight against Boko Haram insurgency. She however said the money was an authorised loan to the office of the NSA.
