The Nigera Football Federation has instructed the Football Associations of the 36 states and the FCT to comply with a directive to stage their Federation Cup finals this weekend.
“We have outlined a programme for the 2015 men and women’s Federation Cup competitions and we don’t want anything to derail us. All the final matches of the state competitions must be held either on Saturday, April 4 or Sunday, April 5,” Head of NFF Federation Cup Unit, Ruth David, said.
Already, the play-offs of the Federation Cup have been fixed for April 18 and 19, while the draw for the national finals will hold in Abuja on April 30.
The grand finale of this year’s competitions will take place on August 16.
Meanwhile, the NFF Technical and Development Committee Chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu will this week meet with the U-23 team coach Samson Siasia and the Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon regarding the All-Africa Games qualifiers.
The Falcons drew 1-1 with their Malian counterparts in the first leg of their only qualifying fixture in Bamako on March 21 and will host the second leg in Abuja on April 5.
The U-23 team battled to a goalless draw against Zambia in Abuja on March 22, and will travel next week for the return leg in Lusaka on April 4.
Anyansi-Agwu said, “I have been mandated to meet with the head coaches of both teams and find out what they will need to ensure qualification. The NFF President is categorical that both teams’ qualification is non-negotiable.
“We will sit down and deliberate seriously on what must be done, what must be addressed. We cannot afford not to qualify for the All-Africa Games.”
