Family says detained PDP spokesperson, Metuh, on hunger strike

olisa metuThe family of the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, has denied that he received one point four billion naira from the office of the National Security Adviser.

Mr. Metuh was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, on allegations of corruption, and remains in detention.

In a statement signed by Gilbert Metuh, the family said Mr. Metuh has refused to eat in detention over fears he might be poisoned and are therefore concerned about his health and safety.

The statement said the PDP spokesman acknowledged he delivered on an assignment for former President Goodluck Jonathan, and was duly paid. They demanded that Mr. Metuh be released from detention or charged to court.
