The protesters, under the umbrella of the Niger Delta Youth complained of not feeling the impact of NDDC, declaring that the body is not living up to expectations. They claim that since they dropped their arms and embraced peace, the federal government is yet to fulfill its promises as contained in the terms of the amnesty. In another development, former militants from the Niger Delta zone yesterday stormed the corporate headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in protest over alleged neglect by the Federal Government since the Amnesty Programme started in 2009.
The protesters, however, could not have audience with the NDDC management as they were stopped by soldiers deployed to the commission. The spokesperson of the group, Suboh Jacob, however appeals to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene on their behalf.
