The Niger Delta Congress has condemned the “terrorist attack” in Edo State, warning of rising insecurity in the region. The group issued a statement on Tuesday in reaction to the abduction of dozens of travelers in Igueben last Saturday.
Five days after the attack, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command disclosed that seven of the thirty reported kidnapped victims have been released to their families.
The spokesperson of the Niger Delta Congress, Mudiaga Ogboru condemned the ambush on innocent citizens, observing a series of onslaughts since last year.
Noting that the frequency was disturbing, the Niger Delta Congress said despite numerous calls by stakeholders and the people, the governors are yet to establish a regional security outfit as proof of their commitment to securing lives and property.
However, the residents of the Igueben community also lamented the frequent attacks in the area, citing the rising unemployment rate among youths in the country as the cause of the attacks.
