Democracy Day: President Tinubu Explains Decision To Remove Subsidy On Inauguration Day

As Nigerians continue to groan as a result of the recent removal of payment on fuel subsidy, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained the decision to remove subsidy from Premium Motor Spirit fondly called petrol on his inauguration day and assured Nigerians that their sacrifice shall not be in vain.
The president during his live broadcast today said his decision to remove subsidy was aided by his desire to eradicate poverty from the nation and ensure the growth of Nigeria.
President Tinubu added that his decision was aided by the desire of MKO Abiola during his manifesto in 1993 which is to bid farewell to poverty through social and economic justice for the people.
While admitting that the decision has brought hardship to Nigerians, he noted that the decision was a step to save Nigeria and recover the resources away from unpatriotic elements.
