A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has disqualified Rivers Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, over dual citizenship and non compliance with Electorial Act by his party.
The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) filed a suit praying the court to direct the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise Cole as the governorship candidate of APC for alleged dual citizenship.
The PDP also alleged that the delegate election that led to the emergence of Cole did not follow due process.
The trial judge, Justice, Emmanuel Obile in his judgment agreed with the PDP that Cole had dual citizenship and was not eligible to contest governorship position.
The Nation reports that the court also said the APC primary that brought him was not monitored by the INEC.
