FC Barcelona have decided to terminate the contract signed with Sergi Guardiola for the club’s reserve team. Forward, Guardiola was sacked after officials were alerted of the offensive tweets he had posted two years ago about Barca and Catalonia.
The twenty-four year old striker joined Barcelona B team yesterday but his contract was terminated some hours later, he started this season at Madrid-based club Alcorcon in Spain’s second tier. Guardiola has meanwhile denied posting the tweets.
Speaking to Onda Cero, Guardiola said he understands the Catalan club’s decision, but claimed the tweet was a mis-understanding. It’s not clear what will happen next for Guardiola. He said for the time being he will return home and carry on training.
Barca also signed midfielder Josep Miquel Fernandez from UE Cornella and left-back Moises Delgado from Sevilla Atletico.
